The NASDTEC Professional Education Committee (PEC) invites you to join the next PEC Open Discussion webinar to learn about successful alternative educator preparation programs in Georgia and Iowa.
Georgia’s Pioneer RESA program
As Georgia celebrates its 25th year of alternative educator preparation programs (EPPs), the Director of Non-Traditional Program Approval and the Non-Traditional Education Specialist from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission will share how their state works with EPPs in terms of program approval, program quality measures, and continuous improvement. They will highlight one of the non-traditional programs, Pioneer RESA, who has worked extensively and efficiently towards continuous improvement as part of the peer-reviewed Continuous Approval process.
Panelists will include:
- Ms. Enjolia Farrington – Director of Non-Traditional Program Approval, GaPSC
- Ms. Rene’ Mason – Non-Traditional Education Specialist, GaPSC
- Ms. Allison Funk – Director of Professional Learning, Pioneer RESA
- Dr. Angie Gant – Professional Learning Specialist, Pioneer RESA
Iowa’s RAPIL program
Iowa's Regents Alternative Pathway to Iowa Licensure (RAPIL) is in its 17th year as an educator preparation program (EPP) for the state of Iowa. The Program Consultant for Educator Quality from the Iowa Department of Education (IDOE) and RAPIL coordinators share how Iowa works with EPPs in terms of program approval, program quality measures, and continuous improvement. With them are two program participants who are in their Internship year, to share their experiences with the program and benefits of having the alternative pathway to becoming a licensed teacher.
