Helping Educators Avoid Cybertraps

Designed for practicing educators, this webinar offers an overview of current and emerging technologies, web sites, and apps in use by educators today. Specific topics will include smartphones, laptops, social media networks, and social media apps.


The webinar will focus on the various types of electronic attacks (CyberTraps) that educators may face from students, colleagues, and members of the public. Examples include identity theft, anonymous breaches of privacy, hacking, cyber bullying, and cyber harassment.


Additionally, the session will describe the various types of electronic attacks perpetrated by educators that may be identified as educator misconduct and can result in criminal charges and/or administrative action taken against an educator’s license or certificate. Examples include cyber bullying, cyber harassment, exposure to inappropriate materials, voyeurism, and sexting.


The session will include specific steps that can be taken by students, parents, educators, and administrators to minimize the risk of the cybertraps.


This webinar is available in either a live or a reprise format.

Live Format

The live format is specifically designed for a group who will share a web link and join the webinar at a specific date and time. Participants are provided opportunities to ask questions and receive immediate follow up responses from Mr. Lane. Each live webinar is recorded and remains available to participants for up to 30 days after the live webinar presentation.


The cost of admission is based on the number of participants.
