Registration is now open for the 90th NASDTEC Annual Conference, this year being held in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 10-12.

Due its success, NASDTEC again is holding its Pre-Conference Regional Conversations from 1:30-4:30- p.m. on Saturday, June 9 with no extra registration fee.  We hope that all members will take advantage of this opportunity to share issues and solutions to problems we all face every day.  Along with NASDTEC’s usual lineup of great speakers, good food, and excellent networking, the planning committee has continued to listen to our past attendees to make this event better than ever with more concurrent sessions and opportunities to interact.

Great venue…

The Minneapolis Marriott City Center is only a 5-minute walk from Target Field and is connected to the Sky Walk which leads to a variety of museums, entertainment venues, and great shopping.  The hotel is only steps away from the theatre and restaurant district, the light-rail line with direct connection to the airport and the Mall of America, and NASDTEC, as always, brings you an outstanding room rate in line with government per diem guidelines.

Great value…

Your registration fee again brings maximum value for your agency’s investment.  No national conference is more mindful of the shrinking travel budgets across our jurisdictions’ offices and higher education institutions.  At NASDTEC, you not only get to network with your fellow professionals from across the country (and the world), you also receive a great room, free internet in all guest rooms, along with fee-included meals & breaks each day throughout the three-day meeting.  No other national education meeting continues to bring you this value, and it is the only national meeting for those who work directly with educator credentialing, preparation, and employment.

Great professional enhancement, and a special embedded strand for new directors

As always, NASDTEC brings you speakers and topics that are geared to you and the job you do every day.  This year’s lineup with focus on NASDTEC at 90:  Still Making a Difference for Students with plenary and concurrent sessions to frame this issue, engage professionals further in what we do, and shape our shared vision for the future.

For the first time, this year’s agenda features a special strand for new directors (and all other interested attendees) called NASDTEC Interactive. These sessions feature veteran NASDTEC members and higher education experts leading specific small, discussion-based sessions on Certification, Preparation, the Clearinghouse, License Renewal and Professional Development, and general NASDTEC information. They are embedded within the agenda, so they are available for attendees to follow the strand throughout the three days…perfect for those new members who want to interact and learn with other newer directors in their jurisdictions.

In addition to over 25 outstanding concurrent sessions for all attendees, this year’s general speakers/panels include:

·         Michelle Kuo, author of Reading with Patrick;

·         Roberta Miceli, Deputy Director with the United States Department of Education;

·         Dan Goldhaber, vice-president of the American Institutes of Research; and

·         Lynn Gangone, new president and CEO of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education

This is only a taste of the many sessions, most of which are in small-group settings to allow you to have the most interaction with colleagues and presenters.  You will have the chance to choose from the four strands of concurrent sessions in certification, preparation, recruitment/retention, and general topics.

You are encouraged to register now and book your hotel room early because once NASDTEC exceeds its contracted hotel room allotment, room prices will rise (if rooms are available.)  Remember that Minneapolis is a vibrant city with many events throughout the year, so room space is at a premium.
